The State of Downtown Pittsburgh report is designed for the general public and includes detailed narrative and economic indicators in a year-in-review format that draws comparisons to peer Central Business Districts across the country.
We were asked to make this report easily digestible and interesting given the preponderance of data and charts. To convey through design the excitement and dynamism of the organization’s successes while respecting established brand standards.
Solution
We developed a custom publication that extolled ongoing programs while highlighting new and high-profile events and achievements like the wildly successful Picklesburgh culinary festival.
We built core brand assets and brightened and lightened the color palette while exercising fidelity to the organization’s style guide. The liberal use of custom-created infographics and the creative inclusion of client-supplied artwork helped to make this important publication more accessible and usable.
The report featured custom infographics that helped numbers and figures stand out and made them easily digestible for anybody who looked through it, not just people who were already downtown aficionados. Additional branded elements include a program, PowerPoint, and signage for its annual meeting.
A saddle-stitched 4X4 overcover provided much-needed tactile and visual interest and included a snapshot of vital statistics.
2016 Report
Results
The reports were distributed at the organization’s annual meeting. The PDP’s stakeholders were impressed with the fresh, lively design, and served as a vital communication tool that reassured these important constituents that the organization remained committed and energetic in its efforts.
Released at a packed public and media event — for which we also created branded signage and a PowerPoint presentation — the most recent State of Downtown Report was perceived as lively, interesting, and engaging as Downtown Pittsburgh.
