On June 9, 2023 Shift Collaborative and friends gathered just around the corner from our office at The Bridge in East Liberty to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Fun fact: Shift has moved office locations several times, but we’ve never left our forever home of East Liberty. It was a lovely evening for an outdoor party in Pittsburgh (no sarcasm here, it actually was delightful outside…and aren’t we bold for planning an outdoor event in western Pennsylvania). Here are some of the highlights.
Treat Yo’ Self
Whether mocktails, cocktails, or club soda is your thing, guests were treated to a drink ticket and access to some of the delicious small bites. Mac ‘n cheese? Check! Spinach and artichoke dip? Yes, Please. Wings? Bring it on. We’d share pictures, but we don’t want you to feel too jealous. Plus it was a Friday night and we were all hungry! Frequently overheard between catching up with friends old and new: “Brb, grabbing some more food!”

The Evolution of Shift
One of the highlights of the party was the 10 year boards on display. You might notice that these hung on an orange wall at The Bridge. You know, orange, just like our main brand color. Kismet. These boards, designed by the Shift Team, highlighted some, though not all, of our notable projects. Couldn’t make the party? Don’t worry, we have big, big plans to highlight some of our web projects on social media in an upcoming series. In the meantime check out some board highlights from clients like East End Cooperative Ministry, The Ellis School, Green Light Wireless, FSA, PUMP, Communitopia, and so many more.

Brave, Bold, Charlotte
The star of our party showed up in many ways, and yet not exactly in person. What can we say, she’s a bit flighty. Charlotte, Shift’s mascot, was featured prominently at the party. She was also ever present on collectible coins and in doodling contests. For more about Charlotte, check out her bio.

Cheers to Ten Years
Partners Cynthia Closkey and Sarah Mayer shared their thoughts on their journeys as partners and small business owners, and reflected on the history of Shift Collaborative.
“We are so humbled by all of the amazing people, organizations, and work that we have been able to do in these last ten years. It’s been a really outstanding experience. Thank you for being a part of the first 10 years and we hope that you will all become a part of the [next] ten years.”
Cynthia + Sarah
The Shift Team then surprised our fearless leaders with flowers from The Farmer’s Daughter, commemorative cards, and a few tasty treats to show appreciation and gratitude.

Oh, and a Few Door Prizes
Lots of friends of Shift left with door prizes, including a brainstorming pack (chock full of the best pens and Post-It Notes), a coveted Shift sketchbook plus Shift sticker sheet (we may or may not have had 10 sets to give away), and even some liquid treats from Pittsburgh-based craft distilleries.
The Shift Team
When you work in a hybrid environment, it sure is nice to have some face-to-face time (as opposed to Facetime). We are lucky to have a team with so many varied talents, all coming together every day to Make Shift Happen.

You must be excited to meet us now – after all, we are such a fun group of people! (Note, we said “people.” We can’t promise you a meeting with the real Charlotte, as she is a bit of a busy bird.)
