As promised in our Anniversary Blog post, we’re sharing content around the theme of ‘ten’ all year. As the year winds down, we reflect on ten of our favorite memories of 2023.
Ali says,
One of the highlights from the past year was Concert Week, which was technically not a week but actually an eight-day span in June when I went to see Taylor Swift twice, and Dave Matthews Band. I went to two of the shows with a close friend who was going through a challenging time and I was so glad to be able to sing loudly at the top of our lungs together. (Plus she is amazing at navigating North Shore garages and knew just where to park so we could hop right onto the HOV line and be home by midnight, which really spoke to my middle-aged heart).
Anthony says,
It was nice chatting with former team members and past clients at Shift’s 10th-anniversary celebration. I enjoyed reconnecting and reminiscing, as well as introducing newer colleagues to names I still mention in the stories of our past projects. And I got to introduce people to my mom. It was a pleasant outdoor evening full of smiles and laughter.

2023 was a great year to be a bird mascot. I was delighted to be featured in my very own blog post. I don’t know how many of my feathered friends follow Shift on social media, but I’m always delighted to tell the flock when I have been highlighted by the Shift team. I’m flattered that the Shift team has adopted my ethos: be brave, be bold.
Cynthia says,
In 2023 I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it has been to go back into the office. While I continue to appreciate working from home most of the time, it has been great to see my colleagues face-to-face, walk around East Liberty, and to have the weekly change of scene. I feel lucky that we have the flexibility to choose where to work, and I think it supports both creativity and collaboration.
Larissa says,
It’s not a secret that I’m a bit of a railfan, to the point that I actively volunteer at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. In addition to continuing to give the PTM my time in 2023 (and preparing to give them even more of my time as a board member next year), I was able to make a few weekend trips to visit other museums and railroads this year. I had a blast visiting the Baltimore Streetcar Museum, the Strasburg Railroad, and the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park – it’s always great to take a ride and explore the exhibits of other rail and transit museums!
Meg says,
One of the highlights of my year was my first beach vacation since 2020! As part of a summer road trip through New England, I got to park myself in the sand, read and people-watch for a few days. It was fantastic.
Michael says,
2023 has been a year of camping and traveling for me. It’s been a relief to get back on a reliable vacation schedule with my friends and family.
Phillip says,
In 2023, “change” defined my year – a new home, a furry addition to my family, and a new role as Digital Marketing Specialist at Shift Collaborative. Embracing change brought adaptability, growth, and a wealth of opportunities, shaping a transformative and fulfilling year.
Ruby says,
Thinking back on 2023, there were many moments of connection that I appreciated. Some of our projects allowed us to connect with clients in their space, in-person work time at the office allowed me to connect with my teammates, and brief time abroad allowed me the space to connect with myself. Here’s to a continued momentum of connection in 2024!
Sarah says,
if I had to give a theme to 2023 it would be the mixture of fear and excitement that advances in AI brought to our industry (all industries really). I was talking about it a lot, attending talks about it, getting boatloads of emails about it, and seeing it pop up in ads on my socials. I even took Chat GPT for a test run to strengthen ad copy or get ideas for new directions to take for our clients. Overall, I’d say I’m leaning towards excitement for using AI in our work, but fear about how it could go awry is still very much a factor at play for me.
Onward to 2024!
We hope you have enjoyed getting to know our team a little bit better through our anniversary blog series. One last time, let’s raise our glasses or coffee mugs to give cheers to ten years! The future is bright.
